So long, farewell 2011! Hello 2012!

I hope everyone's new year was wonderfully spent and trust that 2012 got off to a terrific start and is treating you well.

Personally, 2011 was a marvellous year for me. I got my business off the ground and it has been more successful than I ever imagined, I am so happy and grateful for that. I can only hope 2012 continues to be just as prosperous.

I spent the first week of the year in a quiet coastal town with very little phone reception. While I was languishing away without technology at the touch of my finger tips, it made me realise how hopelessly and tragically dependant I am on my phone. And so that explains while I have been missing round these parts lately but other than that, I had a nice time relaxing and surrounded by nature.

Just before Christmas, I tried my hand at making candles. It was so much easier than I thought it would be and not to mention fun!

All it involves is melting some regular candlesticks in a double boiling pot.

Once it had melted into a consistant liquid, I placed a wick into a tea cup (making sure it was even and wouldn't fall in) and waited for it to set overnight.

And voila! A beautiful tea cup candle

They made lovely Christmas presents! I generally find nice tea cups and jam jars at thrift stores and upcycle them into something magical! I have one for sale in the store at the moment but I'm hoping on adding more in the near future!
