Ironfest 2013

Ironfest is a medieval festival that is held annually in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales. It was the first time I'd ever been but I had so much fun (despite the freezing and rainy weather!) and I think I'll be going back next year.

The highlight of my day was definitely the birds of prey. They did a show in which the birds flew to each of the trainers and did some tricks. They were amazing and I was so in awe of these beautiful creatures.

Please note in some of the photos, some of the birds are wearing specially fitted hoods to stop them from becoming too excitable. It does not harm or irritate them in any way.

The best bit of all was that I got to hold the eagle myself!
Her name was Sabrina and she was just so pretty. She weighed 6 kg and I was so frightened I wouldn't have the strength to lift her with only one arm but her trainer was very helpful and guided me through it.
It was amazing and definitely a dream come true for me!

Graduation!!!

I graduated last week!!

After 5 looong years of hard work, tears and fears, I finally graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English, History and Cultural and Social Analysis!

I'll admit it was a real struggle at times, not only in terms of motivating myself to do assignments but also because I questioned and doubted whether I should be there at all. There were times where it didn't feel like it was right thing for me to be doing. In the end though, I am so relieved I stuck it out because it feels so good to have accomplished something. I learned a lot about myself in the time I was there too. It's ultimately an experience that shapes you as a person and I feel I've definitely changed.

It felt a bit silly wearing the gown and cap on the day but I felt very grown-up too.
It was a wonderful day, to be surrounded by my supportive (and very proud) family and boyfriend and I'm proud of myself as well, even if it's only momentarily.

Back in Business

That's right, everybody! I am back in business and it feels good!

And Etsy has recently added a new About section which features information about your business and how it got started. I updated mine and you should check that out too here!
Feeling very professional right now ...

What time is it?

Adventure TIME!

I know, I know; I'm a little late to jump on the bandwagon but I've only just recently discovered the awesomeness of this show. I've been aware of its existence for quite some time due to its huge following online but I had never actually taken the time to watch any episodes.

But as you can probably tell, that's all changed. I watched the whole first season in one sitting  and I think it's pretty darn clever and funny so I decided to dedicate a post to some sweet finds over on Etsy.

Mathematical!

A blank canvas

"This world is but a canvas to our imagination.” - Thoreau

I have felt really inspired lately to draw and paint and create things.
My aim is to open up my Etsy store again as soon as possible so it means I've got to get busy. I'm in the process of trying to organise my old stock and to create the new. It's a bit overwhelming but I'm getting there.

This is what I've been working on in the mean time. I'm just an amatuer when it comes to illustrating and painting but it is something I find peaceful and enjoy doing.

As you can see, I'm not very good but it's all about practice and patience (or so I keep telling myself!) I think it'd be pretty sweet to be a professional painter and/or illustrator.

Being bored one night, I decided to make these cute little donuts.

And I had been dying to work with sculpey clay and make some new pieces for the store but my oven broke recently which prevented me from doing so. Finally, after about two weeks though, we got it fixed and I was able to get some productive work done.

Also, I came across this adorable tokidoki DIY unicorno the other day whilst browsing the interwebs and oh my god it is so fabulous.

I'd really like two of these, for my boyfriend and I, as a sort of collaborative art project. That'd be the bees knees!
